Nationals Highlights vs Lakeshore Thunder

Highlights from the CHAP Boys Varsity second game at nationals 2010 vs Lakeshore Thunder.

New NHCBC Website and Championship Rings

Just like to point out that the official website of the National Christian Homeschool Basketball Championships (www.homeschoolbasketball.com) has launched a new design with information on this year’s Nationals.

Also on their website you can take a look at this year’s National Champion and All-American rings, which I got to say look pretty cool.  (See below)

Sorry about the delay

Sorry that this post is so late but after the fourth game on Friday I am just now getting some time to update the blog.

CHAP lost Friday’s Game against the Prayer Warriors from Memphis, TN 58-51. On a positive note Jacob Woods played probably his best game of the year scoring 20 points including 5 three pointers. With four minutes left in the game CHAP lead by 4 points but five straight turnovers lead to some easy buckets on the other end and the Chariots were able to come back with some late 3′s but it was too little to late.

On Saturday CHAP played the Cincinnati Trailblazers and took ten point lead and held it throughout the first three quarters. In the fourth Cincinnati went on a run coming even with three minutes to go in the game. Both teams traded baskets for the next few minutes and with 45 seconds left down by one Jacob Woods got fouled and went to the free throw line. He missed the first and made the second tying the game up. Cincinnati held the ball for last shot and with about seven seconds left their point guard drove to the basket for a layup and missed, unfortunately their center got the rebound and put it back in. We immediately called time out, so with 1.2 seconds to go we needed to go the full length of the court and score. With four of our tallest guys in the front court we lobbed it full court hoping for a prayer, but our hopes were dashed as the ball tipped by the Trailblazers before we could get a shot off. So we lost that game 48-46. Another game where late turnovers pledged us.

In all CHAP went 1-4 during Nationals and finish 48th overall in the country, but with a young team this year maybe next year will bring more success. But even thought we didn’t have great success on the basketball court we still grew to be better teammates and friends through a great week of fellowship.

For those that are interested their was an article in the New York Times Sunday about Nationals which you can find here.

Spots SATCH 15 and can’t come back

CHAP lost again last night 77-43 to the SATCH Mavericks. The game started with the Mavericks going on a 15-0 run after which CHAP was able to stay with them through high presser defense until the fourth quarter when the game got blown open. Again CHAP suffered from poor shooting and sub par rebounding which combined has play a big part in the last two losses. Tonight CHAP will be playing the Prayer Warriors from Memphis, TN. They have only 5 players and have played that way all year long. Tonight we will look to run, run, run and try to stop their 3 guards (all brothers) that like to take it to the basket. Below are last night’s stats.

Nationals Brackets are Up!

The brackets are now up on the NCHBC website, CHAP’s varsity is the 4th #2 seed in the second division of 32 teams. The second division is kind of like the NIT and the first division the NCAA Tournament or “Big Dance”.  Teams is the second division didn’t receive an automatic or at-large bid into the top division. This article on the NCHBC player’s blog explains how this all works.

More updates will follow shortly as games start Monday.

Let’s Go Chariots!
